I DIDN'T PICK UP THE PAINTBRUSH UNTIL LATER IN LIFe

I got my BFA at Atlanta College of Art now (SCAD) in photography, and It wasn't until my mid-forties that I learned how to paint. From that moment on, I was addicted to learning to capture art. To this very day, I continue to take different painting workshops to keep learning new methods and techniques to keep my work fresh and exciting.

  • "We have been fans of Colleen Thompson's artwork for years."

β€œOur first piece was a pet portrait for a family member's dog who crossed the rainbow bridge. Needless to say, this was the most meaningful way to honor their furry family member. Once we saw how incredible the piece was, we quickly ordered two more. One was a portrait of our dog, Bella, and the other was for another family member's dog. The way Colleen captured the essence of these animals is an art form in and of itself. Since then, we've collected other pieces of Colleen's, which hang in our home. The vibrancy of her color selection and the way she visualizes her subject matter makes you want to see (and purchase) more. When we decided to finish our basement, dubbed "The Par Bar," we knew we wanted a piece of Colleen's art to adorn our golfer's retreat. We had taken a photo of our home golf club's ninth green during sunset, and we just had to have Colleen turn it into a custom piece for us. to say it is a showstopper is an understatement. Colleen is an amazing artist, and we are fortunate to have her beautiful creations as a part of our everyday lives.

  • "She is incredibly detail oriented and this speaks to the amount of time spent to go through her photos with a fine - tooth comb to display only the best."

β€œI have known Colleen Thompson for over 25 years and continue to be impressed by her creative artistic talents. She is an incredible photographer, always looking for the dramatic shots to capture light and the mood of the environment.

Additionally, Colleen’s pet portraits are ama zing. I have had the privilege of having Colleen paint one of my dog’s portrait, which I have proudly displayed at my home and when showing her work to friends, at least a dozen have contacted her for their own portraits. Her ability to use brilliant col ors to highlight the features of these beloved animals is what is so striking.”

  • "Colleen is not only a talented artist; she is a skilled marketer and savvy business woman."

Most importantly however is Colleen as a person. Her character is flawless. She is a person of great integrity and has an incredibly big heart. Colleen’s attitude is always upbeat and it’s impossible to not smile when you are with her. My wife and I are blessed to consider her as a dear friend. We always enjoy the opportunity to spend time with her and her wonderful family.

  • "While working at AHS I was impressed to see Colleen’s artistic talent. "

β€œShe pursued her passion for watercolor and thought of ways to build a business a round it. She started doing beautiful pet portraits and they were very well received. She put in the work necessary to learn and research how to build her own website and quickly developed a following. Colleen loved working with the kids at school, so s he worked hard to earn a teaching certificate and taught her own web design class at AHS . She is also a great photographer and made herself available to work on projects with the art department and the yearbook. She managed three teenage girls, a full ti me job and a growing small business with ease.”

HAVING PICKED UP THE PAINT BRUSH, I LEARNED WATERCOLORS IN OLD SCHOOL SQUARE DELRAY, FLORIDA

My instructor Charles Passarelli took me under his wing and was the mentor that made me fall in love with the painting process. It’s never too late to start a new hobby or learn something new.
